Vagli
Vagli's inspiration is deeply rooted in the Calacatta Vagli Mountains of Tuscany, Italy — a hidden wonderland that forms part of the extended Alpine orogenic belt. For millions of years, shaped by geological compression and mineral infiltration, this land has nurtured world-famous marble treasures. Compared with traditional Carrara stone, it is nature's more favored palette: a base of translucent white like glacial melt, interwoven with the gradated rhythms of misty gray and ink-jade gray, resembling the shifting light and shadow of Alpine morning fog flowing through valleys.
Designers at Casaferra have deconstructed the natural texture of Vagli Valley into the soulful language of tiles. The soft white base embodies the solidified memory of the Alps' ten-thousand-year glaciers, while the dynamic traces carved by snowmelt as it rushes through the valley's rock crevices — this transition from "solid glacial white" to "flowing gray tones" — constitutes a natural spectrum bestowed by nature. Using matte precision carving techniques, every inch of the tile replicates the layered transparency of glacial meltwater. When light shines upon it, the tile surface produces a diffuse reflection similar to that within a glacier, creating a soft yet profound interplay of light and shadow. Through this topological translation of nature, the tile becomes a tangible specimen of the landscape.
