Portland
Portland stone (mined on the Isle of Portland, Dorset) is a limestone that formed slowly over the past 150 million years or so as tiny sediments grew and compacted. It is very similar to Bath Stone but has subtle and unique textures, textures and colors. Portland stone is actually a family of closely related varieties of limestone, each of which has subtly unique qualities due to the age of the stone.
